Shut-off valves are the most reliable way to localize a section of pipe. A locking element is located inside the valve. It moves along the flow direction. The valves can only be in two positions: open and closed. The design is very simple and reliable, this type of valve is used on pipelines that do not require flow rate adjustment. 

Depending on the requirements for the pipeline, valves of various diameters are installed on it. They are able to work correctly at pressures above 10 MPa and temperatures up to 180 degrees Celsius. Valves are installed on pipelines with different working media (steam or liquid).
